VEIGAR

Born in Iceland in 1972, Veigar Margeirsson has composed, arranged and performed for film, television, radio, and various recording artists. His music can be heard on Nickelodeon, PBS, and various TV channels throughout Scandinavia, and his compositions and arrangements have been performed by The Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, The Oregon and Spokane Symphony Orchestras, The Iceland State Symphony Orchestra, and the Reykjavik Big Band. Veigar's trumpet performance credits include shows like CBS's Chicago Hope, and he has appeared as a performer and arranger on over forty albums. Mr. Margeirsson has frequently represented Iceland internationally on numerous musical projects, both as a composer and performer.

In 1993 Mr. Margeirsson moved to Boston to study at Berklee College of Music, and concluded his undergraduate studies at the University of Miami with a bachelor's degree in jazz trumpet performance. After completing a master's degree in composition and arranging from the same institution, in 1998, he furthered his education at the University of Southern California, studying film composition with Elmer Bernstein, Christopher Young, Leonard Rosenman, and David Raksin.

Veigar Margeirsson holds composition awards from The John Lennon Songwriting Contest (1999), The USA Songwriting Competition (1998), and Down Beat Magazine's Music Awards (1998 and 1997).
